Book Summary of Kadambari Debir Suicide-Note

Kadambari debi, Rabindranath`s sister-in-law and a very special woman in his life, committed suicide at 25 in 1884. Rabindranath was only 23 and desperately in love with her. Kadambari left a suicide note which was destroyed. That suicide note has been brought back by Ranjan Bandyopadhyay`s imagination. What could Kadambari have written? This book has sold over 3000 copies in one month!

Kadambari Devi held a very special place in Rabindranath Tagore’s heart. When she committed suicide at a very young age, nobody had a chance of finding out the reason as the suicide note she left behind had been destroyed. In this book, Ranjan Bandyopadhyay tries telling his readers what was in that note.

Summary of the Book
Rabindranath Tagore is probably one of the most popular figures in India, whether it is for his incredible literary work or as the man behind the composition of India’s national anthem, Jana Gana Mana. However, there is more to this extraordinary individual. There is much that has been written about his personal life and this book is one that talks about a very important person in his life – Kadambari Devi. She was Rabindranath Tagore’s sister-in-law, but she was a lot more to him when it came to matters of the heart. At 23, Tagore was madly in love with Kadambari who committed suicide when she was just 25 years old. It is said that she left behind a suicide note that had been destroyed. Nobody knew why she took such an extreme step and for what reason. The author, Ranjan Bandyopadhyay, has given his version of what this special lady might have written in the note.
